Deborah Davitt
Deborah Davitt combines alternate history, mythology, political conflict, and science-fiction reasoning. The Goddess Denied continues her Edda-Earth sequence, a world in which Rome endured, magic returned, and divine powers became active forces in human affairs. The novel follows Sigrun Caetia, Adam ben Maor, Trennus Matrugena, Kanmi Eshmunazar, and Minori Sasaki as monsters, prophecy, revolutionary groups, and a missing young woman deepen the crisis. It follows The Valkyrie and precedes The Goddess Embraced, making it the central movement of a long family and historical arc rather than an isolated adventure. Davitt also writes poetry and short fiction, and her later books include the Rise of Caesarion novels and the romance novella Ave, Caesarion. The Goddess Denied displays her interest in systems as much as heroes: empires, religions, technologies, and families all shape what characters believe they can choose, while mythic creatures enter a carefully altered political world.
