Elizabeth Bonesteel
Elizabeth Bonesteel created the Central Corps space opera around institutional loyalties, political conflict, and personal histories. Breach of Containment is the third novel in that series, following The Cold Between and Remnants of Trust. The 2017 Harper Voyager volume returns to engineer Elena Shaw and the crew of the Galileo as a conflict involving the PSI starship Chryse widens toward interstellar war. The novel combines an infiltration mission with questions about information withheld by powerful organizations, making secrecy as consequential as physical danger. Breach of Containment follows the earlier Central Corps installments, and later editions preserve its well-established series identity. Bonesteel’s background in software development informs the practical attention she gives to technical systems and people working within them. Breach of Containment extends her concern with how professionals make moral decisions under extreme pressure when the institutions they serve control only part of the truth.
