Inspired by a real case of long-running municipal fraud, the novel tracks Becky's double life across decades, contrasting her local reputation for competence with her increasingly risky collecting and dealing. Custom House published the hardcover in 2020, followed by a Mariner Books paperback. Tedrowe also wrote Commuters, about intertwined families and late-life change, and Blue Stars, which follows military families during the Iraq War. She earned degrees from Princeton and New York University and has taught writing in Chicago. The Talented Miss Farwell turns financial deception into a character study: the suspense depends not only on whether Becky is caught, but on how thoroughly talent, appetite, and self-invention have fused in her mind.
