Estelle May Hurll was an American art writer and editor who produced concise, image-centered studies for students and general readers around the turn of the twentieth century. Jean Francois Millet and Sir Joshua Reynolds each pair a selection of reproduced paintings with an introduction, commentary, and a portrait of the artist. Both appeared in 1900 as part of Hurll’s series of artist books, which also covered Rembrandt, Raphael, Michelangelo, and other major figures.
