Eva Sandor

Eva Sandor is a novelist and illustrator whose debut, Fool’s Proof, opens the Heart of Stone Adventures with comic fantasy and political intrigue. The story follows Malfred Murd, a court jester who survives an upheaval with an unusually observant magpie and becomes entangled with a more technologically advanced country. Sandor uses the fool's licensed freedom to speak plainly as both a source of humor and a way to examine power. The 2020 edition came from Huszar Books, and BookLife identifies Sandor as both author and illustrator, making its visual identity part of her creative role. Rather than treating the medieval setting as solemn background, she builds contrast between custom, invention, diplomacy, and Malfred's improvisational instincts. The book begins a larger adventure sequence, but its central appeal is already clear: an underestimated performer must read dangerous rooms and turn wit into practical survival. Sandor's combination of verbal comedy, illustrated detail, and brisk plotting gives the novel a distinctive place within independent fantasy.
