F. Anstey

Thomas Anstey Guthrie (1856–1934) was an English novelist and humorist who wrote under the pen name F. Anstey. Trained for the bar, he found his real vocation in comic fiction after the runaway success of Vice Versa in 1882. For more than two decades he was a regular contributor to Punch, and he wrote further popular comic fantasies including The Brass Bottle and The Tinted Venus.
