Florence Bell (1851-1930), born Florence Eveleen Eleanore Olliffe, was a British writer, playwright, and social investigator who married the Yorkshire ironmaster Sir Hugh Bell. She is best remembered for "At the Works" (1907), a sympathetic firsthand study of working-class life in a Middlesbrough iron town. Alongside her novels she wrote plays and children's stories and moved in London literary circles. She was also the stepmother of the archaeologist and traveller Gertrude Bell.
