Francis Jammes

Francis Jammes was a French poet and writer closely associated with the landscapes, animals, villages, and devotional culture of the Pyrenees. Much of his life and work was rooted around Orthez, and his plain, pastoral manner distinguished him from the more urban literary movements of his period. Romance of the Rabbit is Gladys Edgerton’s authorized English translation of Le Roman du Lièvre, issued in New York by N. L. Brown in 1920.
