GennaRose Nethercott
GennaRose Nethercott brings poetry, folklore research and live performance into her fiction. Thistlefoot, her debut novel, reworks Baba Yaga traditions through estranged siblings who inherit a sentient house and take it on a travelling theatre tour across the United States. The book draws on Jewish and Eastern European folklore while examining how families carry stories and historical memory. Before the novel, Nethercott published the book-length poem The Lumberjack’s Dove, selected by Louise Glück for the National Poetry Series. She has toured with a hand-cranked scrolling theatre and contributes to the Lore podcast. Her later collection Fifty Beasts to Break Your Heart continues her interest in fable, transformation and unsettling forms of inheritance.
