Hilda Eunice Burgos is a Dominican American writer for young readers whose fiction centers family, community, and children navigating difficult choices. Miosotis Flores Never Forgets follows a Dominican American middle school student balancing school expectations, her wish to adopt a rescue dog, and concern for an older sister whose behavior has changed. The novel connects those immediate pressures with questions about asking trusted people for help, recognizing danger, colorism, racial profiling, bilingual family life, and care for animals. Lee & Low Books published it in 2021, and the book became a Junior Library Guild selection and received recognition from educational and library organizations. Further works include Ana María Reyes Does Not Live in a Castle and the picture books The Cot in the Living Room and Bodega Cats: Picture Purrfect. Burgos draws on Dominican American settings and multigenerational households while giving young protagonists meaningful responsibility without making them solve difficult situations alone.
