James Krieger

James Krieger writes humorous adventure fiction that combines travel, romantic complication, and escalating trouble. Not My Best Idea sends financially strained Nick Mancuso from Maine to Jackson, Wyoming, with two weeks to bring Cassandra Rogers back for a place on her family company’s board. Cassandra, however, has built a life protecting vulnerable wildlife and has no intention of becoming an easy assignment. Goodreads records the novel’s 2023 publication and describes its blend of comedy, romance, and thriller pacing. The Chanticleer International Book Awards named Not My Best Idea a finalist in its 2023 Mark Twain humor and satire competition, recognizing the book’s comic emphasis. Krieger develops the conflict through clashing objectives: Nick needs the fee, Cassandra has responsibilities of her own, and pursuit makes a simple return impossible. The conservation setting gives Cassandra an active professional identity within the plot. Readers can expect a road narrative driven by sharp reversals, reluctant cooperation, and the realization that completing the original job may no longer be either character’s best outcome.
