Joe Levy
Joe Levy is an American music journalist and editor whose career has included senior roles at Rolling Stone, Blender, and Maxim. He co-edited The Rolling Stone Interviews with the magazine's founder, Jann S. Wenner. Back Bay Books published the 2007 collection for Rolling Stone's fortieth anniversary, bringing together conversations with musicians, actors, filmmakers, writers, and political figures from across the magazine's history. The editorial work is more than a sequence of celebrity profiles: its arrangement shows how the long-form interview became one of Rolling Stone's principal ways of recording cultural change. Levy had already spent a decade helping direct the magazine's editorial coverage and also edited a volume on its selection of influential albums. His background across music criticism and magazine production gave him the practical context to shape archival conversations into a coherent reference work.
