John Castell Hopkins

John Castell Hopkins was a Canadian journalist, editor, and prolific compiler of political and imperial history. The Origin and History of Empire Day traces the public observance associated with schools, civic ceremony, and British imperial identity. Imperialism at the Inter-Colonial Conferenc survives under the complete documented title Imperialism at the Inter-Colonial Conference. Reprinted in London from the Imperial and Asiatic Quarterly Review in 1894, that work addressed commercial and federation questions debated at Ottawa. Hopkins later produced reference works, annual surveys, and biographies intended to organize contemporary events for a broad readership.
