Joseph Bushnell Ames
Joseph Bushnell Ames (1878-1928) was an American novelist who published fourteen books between 1908 and 1929, the last of them after his death. Most were Westerns aimed at the popular fiction market of the 1910s and 1920s, though he also wrote adventure and mystery stories with other settings, among them The Mystery of Ram Island and The Emerald Buddha. His best-known book is Shoe-Bar Stratton (1922), which Hollywood filmed the same year as Catch My Smoke, a Tom Mix vehicle now counted among the lost silent films. The Bladed Barrier, published posthumously in 1929, worked in fantasy elements.
