About this book

“Treasure Island” is a classic adventure tale penned by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson. Initially known as “The Sea Cook: A Story for Boys”, it spins a yarn of “pirates and hidden treasure”. The novel was serialized from 1881 to 1882 in the children’s periodical Young Folks, under the alias “Captain George North”.

The narrative is relayed by Jim Hawkins, who stumbles upon a treasure map and embarks on a journey with an adult crew to find the hidden treasure. They set sail on Trelawney’s schooner, the Hispaniola, captained by Smollett. Tragedy strikes when the inebriated first mate Mr. Arrow is swept overboard during a storm. The novel has significantly shaped the portrayal of pirates in popular culture.
