Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu

Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814-1873) was a Dublin journalist, newspaper owner and the leading ghost story writer of Victorian Britain. After his wife's death he withdrew from society and wrote his best work at night, including Uncle Silas and the collection In a Glass Darkly, where Carmilla first appeared.
