Susan Mallery was published straight out of college, with two books in shops in January 1992, and wrote steadily through the sixteen years it took Accidentally Yours to become her first bestseller. Thrill Me took her to number one in 2015. Mallery, born in Los Angeles in 1970, holds an MA from Seton Hill and calls what she writes romance-plus: contemporary romance widened to take in friendship and family, usually with a dog or a cat somewhere in it. The Friendship List pairs Ellen, a high school teacher whose seventeen-year-old son has decided she cannot cope without him, with Unity, her oldest friend, widowed three years earlier when her husband was killed on service; between them they draw up a list of dares. The Boardwalk Bookshop throws three women together in a leased shopfront on the California coast that becomes part bookshop, part bakery, part gift store. She has served on the board of Seattle Humane.
