Kate Murphy
Reported for the New York Times and kept noticing the same thing in interviews across every subject: almost nobody is actually being listened to.
You're Not Listening gathers the research, including work on why couples who have been together longest are often the worst at hearing each other, and the distinction between listening and waiting to reply. The chapter on the difference between a good question and an interrogation is the most practical part.
Murphy is better on the diagnosis than the fix, which she would probably accept.
