Kerry Winfrey

Kerry Winfrey writes romantic comedies as well as fiction for younger readers, often using film culture and familiar genre conventions as material for character-driven humor. Not Like the Movies is the second novel in her Waiting for Tom Hanks series, issued by Berkley in 2020. Its focus moves to Chloe Sanderson, a supporting character from the first installment who manages a coffee shop and cares for her father, and tests a screen-ready romance against the untidier demands of ordinary life. Winfrey's own bibliography places the novel among her Berkley romantic comedies, alongside Waiting for Tom Hanks, Very Sincerely Yours, and Just Another Love Song. She is based in Ohio, a setting and community that recur across her work.
