The Demonic, published in 2017, was Lee Mountford's second book, a few months after Horror in the Woods, and it opened his Supernatural Horror sequence, continued in The Mark and Forest of the Damned. Mountford writes from the north-east of England and stays with the haunted-house tradition: old buildings, family secrets, slow dread. A second sequence began in 2020 with Perron Manor, then Devil's Door and Purgatory.
