Maria V. Snyder

Maria V. Snyder writes fantasy and science fiction shaped by her earlier training in meteorology. Fire Study is the third novel in the original Study trilogy and follows Yelena as political strain and unstable magic threaten both Ixia and Sitia; Snyder’s broader chronology now places it seventh among the combined Ixia and Sitia books. Defending the Galaxy closes the Sentinels of the Galaxy trilogy, returning to Ara Lawrence and the interstellar mystery surrounding the Q-net. Snyder’s official series guides distinguish the two settings clearly, while her author biography links both to a career spanning speculative fiction and university teaching. Defending the Galaxy also received the 2021 PRISM Award for YA fiction and the award program’s Best of the Best honour.
