He describes fourteen stomach surgeries, a colon that burst, months in a coma, and relapses that came after he had written the hopeful part. The book is uneven and occasionally unkind, including about himself, and that is what makes it worth reading rather than the celebrity. He died in October 2023, a year after it was published.
