Maynard James Keenan

Maynard James Keenan built a career in music and winemaking, with Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer among his best-known projects. A Perfect Union of Contrary Things, written with Sarah Jensen, presents an authorized account of his life and career. The book follows his Midwest childhood, Army service, art-school years, early jobs, musical work, and later involvement in Arizona winemaking. It also incorporates photographs and commentary from relatives, instructors, friends, and professional colleagues. Jensen's interviews with Keenan and people from different stages of his life shape the narrative. Outside music, Keenan established Caduceus Cellars in Arizona and has worked in the region's wine industry.
