Michael DiBaggio is a speculative-fiction writer and co-creator, with his wife Shell, of the Ascension Epoch shared universe. Imagining Liberty is an anthology of ten stories selected from a Libertarian Fiction Authors Association contest about freedom in human life. DiBaggio appears as an editor and contributor alongside Jack Burnett and Alyssa Altadonna. The collection ranges from the Arab Spring and seventeenth-century London to seasteads, airships, planets, and government programs. His other fiction includes House of Refuge, Population of Loss, Copper Knights and Granite Men, After Dark, and work in the East End Irregulars series. Ascension Epoch draws on public-domain literature and comics to build an alternate history shaped by Martian invasion and the return of extraordinary powers. DiBaggio has worked as a software engineer and contributed to role-playing game projects.
