Author: Mick Wall

Mick Wall started writing about music for the weekly Sounds in the late 1970s, was a partner in a rock publicity firm handling Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and Dire Straits by the end of that decade, and joined Kerrang! in 1983, where he wrote cover stories for the next nine years. He founded Classic Rock in 1998 and edited it until 2004, and has presented rock programmes for Sky Channel, Capital Radio, BBC Radio 1 and Planet Rock. When Giants Walked the Earth (2008) is his Led Zeppelin book, built partly on interviews with the surviving members and on an acquaintance with Jimmy Page stretching back two decades. Page called the result distorted and threatened legal action. Wall has a history of that. Guns N' Roses named him in the lyric of Get in the Ring on Use Your Illusion II in 1991, and he later disowned his own 2007 biography of Axl Rose as a book written out of anger, replacing it in 2016 with Last of the Giants.
