Mike Chen

Here and Now and Then gives a time-travelling agent a daughter in the present that the rules forbid him to keep, and the science fiction is the machinery while the parenting is the actual book. Chen puts people with ordinary problems inside genre premises: a pandemic road trip, a Star Wars novel, a woman with amnesia in a world of superheroes. He worked in corporate communications and writes about hockey, and the domestic dialogue is what he is really good at.
