Sam Maggs works across nonfiction, novels, comics, video games, and on-air hosting. A Canadian writer based in Los Angeles, she began her book career with The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy: A Handbook for Girl Geeks, offering practical guidance on fandom, conventions, cosplay, online communities, and making space for women in geek culture. A refreshed second edition, The Fangirl’s Guide to the Universe, was published by Andrews McMeel. Maggs has since written licensed stories for Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Star Trek, Critical Role, and other established fictional worlds. Her game credits include Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and Anthem. She has also worked in narrative strategy and currently serves as senior manager of narrative storytelling for Critical Role. Across these formats, her career is defined by adapting character-driven storytelling to different audiences, production teams, and media.
