Simu Liu

Liu was made redundant from an accountancy job at Deloitte in 2012, started taking stunt and extra work, and eleven years later was carrying a Marvel film. We Were Dreamers covers the part before that: born in Harbin, raised by his grandparents until he was four, then sent to Canada to parents he did not recognise, into a childhood of academic pressure the book describes without softening either side of it. He acted in Kim's Convenience for five seasons. He writes openly about the estrangement and the repair.
