Théodule-Armand Ribot (1839–1916) was a French psychologist widely regarded as a founder of experimental and scientific psychology in France. He founded the influential journal Revue Philosophique in 1876, lectured on experimental psychology at the Sorbonne, and held the chair of experimental and comparative psychology at the Collège de France, where he studied memory, attention, the will, and the emotions. He is remembered for Ribot's Law, which describes how memory loss in amnesia tends to move from recent events back toward older ones.
