About this book
A Bicycle of Cathay is a novel by Frank R. Stockton. A pale girl falls to the ground and her bicycle lies in the middle of the road, while the speaker pushes forward to assist her. The girl says she twisted her foot in some way and is sure she cannot work her wheel.
One chapter is headed "The Larramie Family". A little army has thrown itself upon the speaker, among them a tall, bright-faced man with side whiskers and a lady with little curls on the side of her head. The list of illustrations includes, among others, "I Put on My Coat" and "The Rain Was Coming Down Hard". The speaker feels sure there is a wheel behind, and a bicycle bell is heard violently ringing.
