About this book
Virgil Hampstead says he found himself sitting next to Theobald Greco, the one called the Greek, at a feast that evening. The text says that at a Class Reunion there is money, good fellowship and the chance of a business contact. Theobald Greco, the one called the Greek, says he is in transmutation, and passes out face down on the table.
Virgil Hampstead says he knew what transmutation meant: lead into gold, tin into platinum, all that line of goodies. Greco says of his demon entities that they grow, they split, and the new entities adapt themselves to new conditions. Greco says he will pay if gold will buy it, and that he is desperate. The text describes jets of flame leaping out of every window and door, and an old building that seems to bulge outward and go voom, and was in half a second a single leaping tulip of fire.
