About this book
A Heap o' Livin' is a little book of verse by Edgar A. Guest, dedicated to Marjorie and Buddy by their Daddy. A poem called When You Know a Fellow says that when you get to know a fellow, his joys and his cares, you find he is different than you thought him yesterday. A poem headed Mother speaks of never a sigh for the cares that she bore, and of the soft touch of her hands on a brow.
A verse on babies says that for babies people have to pay a heavy price from day to day, and that there is no way to get one cheap. A poem called Real Singing says there isn't any music that such wondrous joy can bring like the concert when the kiddies and their mother start to sing. A poem about boyhood says that when the hair about the temples starts to show Time's silver stain, the richest man that's living yearns to be a boy again.
