About this book
The preface presents the book as a sequel to The Economic Consequences of the Peace, collecting corrections, additions and reflections prompted by the flow of events. The preface says that a revised edition of the earlier book would be out of place and that the author has chosen to leave it unaltered. The discussion of international affairs says that the League of Nations will be called upon where opposed and incommensurable claims conflict.
The financial account discusses an agreement provisionally signed at Paris on August 13, 1921, concerning the allocation of a milliard paid by Germany between May and August 1921. The account describes concessions to France, including Belgium’s partial postponement of its priority charge and Great Britain’s acceptance of a lower coal value for internal accounting among the Allies.
