About this book

An Eagle Flight is a Filipino novel adapted from Noli Me Tangere, by Dr. José Rizal. The contents list chapters called The House on the Pasig, Crisóstomo Ibarra, The Dinner, Heretic and Filibuster, A Star in the Dark Night and Captain Tiago and Maria. Verses say it is beautiful to fall, that the vision may rise to fulfilment, giving my life for thy life, and call on a fatherland to pray for those who go down to death through unspeakable torments.

Crisóstomo grasps the neck of Father Dámaso, who has made an effort to rise, and shakes him till he is brought to his knees, while nobody, not even the alférez, risks a movement. Elias says that the escape must have been discovered and tells the señor to lie down so he can cover him with the zacate, for the sentinel at the magazine may stop them. A speaker says he sees the cancer that is eating into our society and that perhaps, after all, it must be torn out by violence.
