Beautiful Philippines is a handbook of general information whose contents list historical background, earlier attainments, traders and artisans, written and unwritten laws, and schools and colleges. The historical account says the islands were known in the Orient long before their discovery, with commercial relations extending to China and other named places. The account of earlier culture describes systems of writing, calendars, weights and measures, cultivated lands, village governments and laws handed down through generations.
A financial table records government receipts, expenditures and accumulated surplus, distinguishing the balance at the beginning of the year from the total and remaining surplus. The geographical description mentions the natural bridge of Suhut in Dumalag, Capiz, and a nearby spring of sulphurous and salty water.
