About this book
Chain of Command is by Stephen Arr, illustrated by Ashman. A note says that by going through channels, George worked up from the woodwork to the top brass. Clara tells George that so long as the trap is outside their front door she can never have a moment's peace, worrying about the children.
The text says that after living here so long, they had observed and learned human customs and speech and had even adopted human names. George finds that the man looks tremendous from so close a view, yet knows he is just a little, bent, old man. The Security Officer says he will be damned if he will stick his neck out and have that trap removed. The janitor says his orders were to put a mousetrap by each mousehole.
