About this book
Special Delivery is by Damon Knight. A line under the title says all Len had to hear was the old gag about never having lost a father yet, and that his child was not even born. Moira Connington lives in a rented cottage with a small yard, a smaller garden and too many fir trees. Moira is a dark-haired young woman with a placid, friendly disposition, and Len had met her in his senior year at Columbia.
Moira answers that she has the other baby book when she is asked where it is. Len, making his way around a small bedside table by trial and error, asks "Are you sure he's really conscious at all?" Len picks his tie off the floor and abstractedly begins knotting it on his bare chest.
