About this book

An option on a new planet is what Martin Holliday has come to ask for. A nervous man who cannot bear a closed room, he sits by the window of Christopher Mead, Assistant Undersecretary for External Affairs, and explains that his first planet, which he tried to sell off in subdivisions, did not work out. Algis Budrys's science fiction story, illustrated by van Dongen, follows a man whose odd temperament turns his efforts into triumphs for humanity and defeats for himself.
