The BALDRIC entry defines the baldric as a formal or semi-formal way of displaying arms. A line about the baldric says it may be fringed in silver or green, depending on the baldric's color. The ARRIAN entry lists the system Regulus, and says the entire population is male, though some are semi-androgynous, known as gynandri (singular gynandra), genetically engineered to be able to carry children.
The text describes a tradition that at 1000 hours, Palace Standard Time, on 10 November of every year, the Sovereign publishes the Birthday Article to every Marine post and shipboard detachment. A passage says the race as a whole is led by the male Supreme and the female First Speaker.
