About this book

Ambush is a Terran Empire vignette by Ann Wilson. Nevan tries to break Imperial safeguards to find the identity of the field agent who had saved his bio-father's life twelve years ago. Nevan's bio-father had died and had wanted Nevan to give the anonymous agent his personal weapons: two forearm throwing knives, a belt knife, and a needler.

Kelly is reported as saying that the agent was Logistics Officer at a base on Piper's World during the Traiti counter-attacks there, without saying which base. Owajima answers the chief of spaceport security's call about the Last Resort and DarLewies by saying to permit him to land and do as he wishes, but to keep him under close surveillance. Nevan says he got blown when he visited the base, not knowing about the open house, and ran into some clan-mates.
