About this book

Confederate Wizards of the Saddle is a book of reminiscences and observations by Bennett H. Young, one who rode with Morgan. A chapter is headed General John H. Morgan's Raid into Kentucky, July 4-28, 1862. The text says John H. Morgan was born at Huntsville, Alabama, on the 28th of June, 1825. The text says a deputation from the town met General Morgan a long way out from Paris, offering to surrender the place.

The text says the division comprised a remarkable body of young men, among them lawyers, physicians, farmers, clerks, and here and there clergymen. The text says a universal spirit of alarm and uncertainty prevailed throughout the Federal camps and that the results of General Hampton's incursion dawned upon the Federal leaders in a few hours.
