About this book
Dialogue of Comfort Against Tribulation is a book by Thomas More. The edition is marked as having modifications to obsolete language by Monica Stevens. A note says the first plan was to change only the spelling, and that the punctuation would have to be changed to follow present usage.
The text puts forward, as the first comfort, the desire and longing to be comforted by God. The text notes two kinds of folk in tribulation and heaviness: one sort that will not seek for comfort, and another sort that will. The text says some fall so afraid of it that even in the day of prosperity they fall into the night's fear of pusillanimity. The text says some people, under pretext (as it seemeth to themselves) of humble heart and meekness, seek their own ease and earthly rest unawares.
