Dialogues on the Supersensual Life contains a Master's instruction to cease personal activity, gather the thoughts, and rely on the promised grace of God in Christ. The Master directs the listener to lay hold upon the Word of God through faith and to obey its call. The Master describes silence before the Lord, inward solitude, and attention to his will in the patience of hope.
The text rejects the idea that the listener can will or do anything through personal strength. The instruction calls for entering into the suffering and resurrection of Jesus Christ and willingly submitting to God in every endeavour.
