About this book
The Heroic Enthusiasts (Gli Eroici Furori), Part the First, is an Ethical poem by Giordano Bruno, translated by L. Williams, with an introduction. The preface says the translation was begun more than two years ago for the writer's own pleasure, and that as Gli Eroici Furori of Giordano Bruno has never appeared in English, the translator decided to publish that portion of it which was finished.
The account of Bruno says he wrote a book upon the Sphere, which was lost, expounded the system of Copernicus, and talked to his pupils with enthusiasm about the movement of the earth and of the plurality of worlds. One verse says, A horse was Saturn, and in a calf and dolphin Neptune dwelt. A speaker marked Tans. says that whosoever in this present condition aspires also sighs, and the same breathes, while another marked Cic. points out that there is a difference between sighing and breathing.
