Early English Water-Colour Drawings by the Great Masters has articles by A. J. Finberg, 1919. The contents list names articles called Introduction, The Turners, Turner's Predecessors and Turner's Contemporaries, among others, and a Descriptive Catalogue of the Exhibition of Selected Water-Colour Drawings by Artists of the Early English School. The writer describes Turner's works on the long south wall of the gallery, with Lake Nemi (Plate XV) in the centre in a place of honour. The text says that among the drawings of this kind traditionally attributed to Turner, at least the pencil outlines are nearly always clearly recognizable as by Girtin.
The writer says that, if the copies are accepted as Turner's, they show that he possessed, at that time, very little appreciation of the higher beauties of Cozens's work. A catalogue entry numbered 133 is a Swiss Landscape, circa 1835, by J. M. W. Turner, with a stream in the foreground and mountains beyond. A catalogue entry numbered 134 is Turin, from the Church of the Superga, circa 1818, by J. M. W. Turner.
