Fifty Per Cent Prophet is by Randall Garrett, and a blurb asks, "what's the difference between a dictator and a true prophet?" Joachim sits "in the small room behind his reception hall" and holds "his fingers poised above the keys of the rather creaky electrotyper on his desk." A bell tinkles softly, and Dr. Joachim greets a visitor, "Hello, Susan, my dear," asking, "What seems to be the trouble?"
The greeting is not "the same line that he'd have used with a client", and the text adds, "You don't ask a mark questions; you tell him." Mrs. Jesser is described as thinking she was "being paid as a receptionist and phone operator" and as "the perfect screen for the Society's real work." The President says, "Twelve minutes ago, the old Lunik IX smashed into Moonbase One and blew it to smithereens," and "The Soviets say that a meteor hit Lunik IX".
