About this book
Fighting in France is credited to Ross Kay. The preface says the author has striven to chronicle some of the valorous deeds and to relate some of the incidents and events that are part of the everyday life of the soldier who is fighting in France. A character named Leon reports that Captain Le Blanc said everything was ready and that steps had been cut in the trenches so that they can climb out easily.
A battle scene says the Germans were taken by surprise, and has the attackers sing The Watch on the Rhine as they dash forward while the French guns of every caliber pour a perfect deluge of lead and steel upon them. A character named Jacques says he has always been very good in the dark, and a big battle-plane alights gently on the aviation field.
