About this book
Five Little Starrs in the Canadian Forest is credited to Lillian Elizabeth Roy. The contents list chapters among others titled A Lumber Camp in Prospect, A Lumber Camp in Winter and The Indian Trapper. Dean sees a thin wreath of smoke rising among the trees near at hand, and since no forester ever permits the sight of smoke to go uninvestigated for fear of forest fires, he jumps off his horse and rushes into the woods.
A narrator wonders how the Indian ever got the name of Mike, and hears that his own name was so hard to pronounce that everyone who knew him abbreviated it to Mike. Mr. Starr asks what all this is, suspicious of the twins' mischief, and Mike replies that Lil' Doot hang oop there. Don answers Mr. Starr that he and Dot know all about engines, so they thought they would help the men clean away these little trees.
