About this book
Lillian Elizabeth Roy's Girl Scouts in the Adirondacks is illustrated and has fourteen chapters, among them The Friday Jinx, Lost on the Trail, Lessons in Tracking, A Canoe Trip, First Aid and Shooting the Rapids. In one passage Mrs. Vernon drives with the scouts along the Hudson, and Anne, the scout with the healthy appetite, welcomes the idea of eating on the way. Just beyond Peekskill the cars stop when a farm horse rears beside a ditch and a woman in a man's farm hat tries to calm him.
In another scene the girls visit Mike, who offers them a canoe, though they already have two. He will not rent it and will only sell, and Julie tries to bargain with him. In another passage Mr. Gilroy comes to camp again and speaks of an invitation for next year.
