About this book
Gardening for the Million is a work by Alfred Pink, who is named as the author of Recipes for the Million. The preface says the volume was written with the object of stimulating the cultivation of gardens still more beautiful than those generally to be met with. The preface says the times for sowing seeds are not repeated in each case, and points readers to the remarks under the headings of Annuals, Biennials, Perennials and Seed-Sowing.
The entry for Andromeda describes an ornamental evergreen shrub, commonly known as the Marsh Cystus, thriving in a peat soil with partial shade. The entry for Homerias calls them beautiful little South African plants and advises planting the bulbs in a dry, warm situation, from October to January, 3 in. deep. Tomatoes grown under glass need to be trained in much the same way as Grape Vines.
